Myself

I was born in 1976 when my Dad was at United Kingdom on an academic sojourn. So, naturally and culturally, i was named 'Abidemi', implying that the child was delivered in the Dad's absence (abroad, overseas, et cetera). Given the circumstances surrounding my birth, my first name was Babafemi, which literally means my father loves me. This again reflects the great love that my Dad has for me, being the first son, the third child and the child delivered to him (in his absence). The name 'Babafemi' also points to the love that my grand-dad (maternal) had for my Mum. The two of them were so close that my Mum was his most favourite. The closeness was so intense that the day that he died in Sagamu, he appeared to her physically in Ibadan (about 150 km apart). When she saw him, her mind told her that he was dead and this was confirmed.
However, as God would have it, my grand-mum (maternal), was not very comfortable with the name - Babafemi - simply because, it was too common both in the family and everywhere else. Then, she discussed with my parent that my name should be changed to 'Gbadebo', the name that I bear up till today.
And my second name was given by my father as - 'Olusegun' - implying that God has conquered, also in relation to the fact that he bears 'Adesegun' - the crown has conquered. In short, my names in full are: Gbadebo Olusegun Abidemi ODULARU. Really long, but sounds great and interesting. I love them like that.
What is the meaning of Gbadebo?
